The 2025 Southern African Association of Geomorphologists (SAAG) Conference will be held at the Kleinplaas Resort, near Oudtshoorn, in the Western Cape, South Africa, from 15 to 18 July 2025.  

As part of the conference, a joint paper session will be organized by SAAG, the Southern African Young Geomorphologists (SAYG) group, and the Young and Early Career Geographers Taskforce (IGU-YECG). This session will provide students and early-career professionals with the opportunity to present their research.  

The best paper will be awarded a certificate and a monetary prize of $50 USD, along with encouragement to submit the paper to the South African Geographical Journal.  

Young Scientist Paper Award – Eligibility Criteria 

To be considered for the award, applicants must meet the following requirements:  

✅ Submit a draft paper that aligns with the author guidelines of the South African Geographical Journal:  https://www.tandfonline.com/action/authorSubmission?show=instructions&journalCode=rsag20

✅ Be the first author of the paper.  

✅ Deliver an oral presentation of the paper at the SAAG 2025 Conference.  

✅ Be a registered Southern African Young Geomorphologists (SAYG) member.  

✅ Ensure the paper’s theme is related to geomorphology.  

✅ Submit a draft manuscript that has not been previously published.  

✅ Each candidate may submit only one paper.
