Dear Colleagues,

We would like to invite you to contribute a chapter to a new handbook The Palgrave Handbook on Zero carbon Energy Systems and Energy Transitions edited by Dr Geoffrey Wood (University of Stirling), Dr Vincent Onyango (University of Dundee), Dr Komali Yenneti (University of Wolverhampton) and Mariana Liakopoulou (NATO Association of Canada).

The aim of the handbook is to collect research, thinking and experience/practice in zero carbon energy systems, energy transitions and related areas that captures a range of topics, issues, approaches, theories, methodologies and perspectives with a truly global reach, including case studies from around the world. The handbook would be the first dedicated handbook on zero -carbon and energy transitions and related areas. In summary, our aim is to capture as diverse a range of relevant topics as possible in a single handbook.

We welcome chapters of a practical, methodological or theoretical (or combination thereof). Contributions are welcome from one or more disciplines and from contributors working in the energy and other relevant sectors. The aim is to provide an inter- and multi-disciplinary comprehensive analysis, knowledge and overview of the subject. As such, we are interested in chapters covering a wide range of topics and related topics (e.g. including but not limited to renewable energy, fossil fuels, low carbon energy, extractives industries, behavioural change, supply and demand side measures, etc.).

The proposed book further seeks to provide timely case studies covering a broad range of technologies, energy sources, countries, jurisdictions and different governance approaches. This will cover the international and regional, national and sub-national level down to the scale of communities and cities. As such, we also invite chapters that are focused or generalised. Saying that, we are open to suggestions for chapter contributions in this area that you may have!

The Handbook of Zero Carbon Energy Systems and Energy Transitions will bring together internationally-recognised authors from a range of countries at different stages in the process of energy transition (or not as the case may be) in order to highlight key themes going forward, lessons to be learned and provide recommendations to relevant stakeholders.

The book will be published by Palgrave Macmillan and we aim to have the book published by 2022.

Before full chapter submissions, authors are encouraged to send a chapter abstract or synopsis (max of 500 words) via email to Dr Komali Yenneti (komaliy@wlv.ac.uk). In addition, please also add author(s) titles, affiliation(s) and biographies (around 250-300 words maximum) and contact details (email, postal address). The book publication will progress on an expedited timeline, as laid out below. Chapters should be roughly 7,000-10,000 words in length (including notes and references), although there is flexibility in this requirement.
